On The Issues
School Budgets In Danger
McKinney has been the
recipient of rapid growth and full coffers over the last ten years, but
that has come to an end with the economic recession and the housing
deflation. We are now faced with continued growth and flat budgets, as
people continue to arrive, yet housing costs remain the same.
I will fight to keep your
school taxes down by inspecting the best long-term solutions for growth
and coordinating with the City and business community at every turn. We
must be pragmatic and use foresight to keep costs down in our schools!
Communicating With The Community
Ever have a problem with
your child's school and no one will take the time to help? Or a teacher
who you can't communicate with? I've had children in all levels of
school here in McKinney over the past eight years, and continue to work
with educators in Elementary, Middle, and High School (even Collin
College!) I've been in your shoes, and I'm able to lend an ear to YOUR
situation.
When you have a problem
and no one's listening, I'll be there for YOU, and help you find out
what the best solution is for you, your child, and our schools.
Teacher Support
I have a solid
understanding of what teachers face on a daily basis - I taught in
Tarrant College, and my mother, brother, and both sisters still teach
today in Elementary, Middle, and High Schools throughout the Dallas
Metropex.
I will be a strong
teacher advocate because I know that teachers do their job for little
pay and fanfare so they can be rewarded with the joy of watching
children succeed in life.

"Strike the nail aright boys, hit it on the head! Strike with all your might boys, while the iron's red.
When there's work to do boys, do it with a will -- those who reach the top
boys, first must climb the hill.
Standing at the foot boys, Gazing at the sky. How can you get up boys, If you never try.
Though you stumble oft boys, never be downcast. Try and try again boys -- you'll succeed at last."
